PDX Tricking Schedule
[COMPLETE]
Described as a backflip on one foot, the gainer is a trademark skill of every acrobatic sport and, more recently, figure skating.
A horizontal spinning skill, the butterfly kick is an integral part to the acrobatic toolbelt. The butterfly introduces the athlete to the horizontal axis of movement.
The first kicking month, April will focus on staying vertical and how to get the most out of explosive movement to make a spinning kick like the 540 simple but effective in performance. There will be a break for Easter Sunday.
Now that the class has learned a few integral skills in varying axes of rotation, May will allow the athletes to learn how to create long strings of these motions in order to add freedom to their movement style. Culminating in an in-house judged competition at the end of the month.
The aerial is a tricky skill for some but easy for others. This month we will learn how to aerial in every direction and discuss multiple approaches to the skill taught by other disciplines.
Now getting into higher level kicking and garnished with the skills learned before, August will be a deep dive into adding multiple twists into vertical movements such as kicks.
Described as a gainer with one twist, September will focus on the cork. This will be the first power move the athletes will encounter that will take both the spins and flips that they have learned so far and combining them into one skill.
The Touchdown Raiz (TDR) is the backbone of all power athletes in tricking. Crowned the greatest set-up, TDR allows the athletes to push for harder skills using a method that is tried and true.
